Tips for using the tow belt

Trailer rescue is an unavoidable topic in off-road activities, and we often see negative cases of bad results caused by mishandling on the Internet. As one of the important tools in vehicle rescue, the tow strap can be counterproductive if used improperly. So what kind of trailer belt is firm and reliable? How should the trailer belt be used?
First of all, the trailer belt should be brightly colored. If it is made of reflective material, it is more conducive to rescue at night. Secondly, a trailer belt with the corresponding towing capacity should be selected according to the weight of the vehicle; generally hard-core off-road vehicles have external tow hooks, and cars and SUVs use built-in tow loops. Don't choose an old-fashioned trailer strap with a metal hitch. Once the tow strap breaks or slips, the tow hook will hit the front and rear vehicles like a zig-zag, causing vehicle or personal injury.
There are generally three types of tools in a tow truck: a tow rope, a tow belt, and a tow bar. The material of the tow strap and the tow strap should be strong nylon, Oxford cloth strap or steel wire, and the tow bar of the trailer is generally used for urban road rescue. The rigid connection can ensure the fixed distance between the front and rear vehicles, and avoid the rear-end collision of the front vehicle. Currently, wire rope streamers are rare and unsafe. The trailer belt is generally 6-10m long and 5-8cm wide, with a strong loop at both ends.
Taking the trailer belt as an example, it is recommended to use an 8-ton trailer belt for vehicles with a self-weight of less than 1.6 tons, a 11-ton trailer belt for vehicles with a weight of 1.6-2.2 tons, and a 12-ton trailer belt for modified hard-core off-road vehicles. After installing the tow belt, no matter how heavy the rescued vehicle is, be sure to fix a "rope holder", or "flag", on the tow belt. "Pull the flag" can prevent the trailer belt from flying out due to inertia when the trailer belt is broken or the trailer ring is broken, and hurt the people around the vehicle. "
When connecting the trapped vehicle to the towing workshop, leave 5-6 feet of slack, then drive forward and use the elastic force of the tow strap to pull out the trapped vehicle. But be extra careful when doing it, don't yank. Trapped drivers should try to drive forward with their own strength when the vehicle in front starts to drag. Once you get out of trouble, be prepared to brake immediately to avoid hitting the tractor. If a trapped car is much lighter than the one being towed, accidents can easily occur if care is not taken.
